Conduct of Lord Hanningfield (The): 9th report of session 2010-11

Stationery Office (U.K.), The

Lord Hanningfield was found guilty in May 2011 on six counts of 'furnishing false information relating to accounts' and sentenced to 9 months in prison. The Commissioner for Standards prepared a report on his conduct, and a Sub-committee on Lords' Conduct recommended a sanction of suspension from the House for 9 months. Lord Hanningfield appealed to the Committee for Privileges and Conduct against the length of the recommended sanction. The Committee for Privileges and Conduct does not uphold his appeal, and confirms the Sub-committee's recommendation that Lord Hanningfield be suspended from the House until 31 March 2012.
